In 1901, Usher started a small farm on the Gold Shores River. The farm enjoyed mild success throughout the 1900s, until 1911.
During the rush of 1911, Usher became extremely wealthy from his findings and founded Jill Mining Industries in 1913. Along with is, the new business bought 7.5 miles of the river for mining.
Usher died in 1923 due to lung cancer.
