HistoryEdit

Founding and growth: 1903 - 1935Edit

Flag was officially founded on January 14, 1903, shortly after the end of Floyd War I. The area, thanks to International Highway 50 crossing the nearby Easten-Jill border, had led to a large population increase in the local area. When Flag was founded, 4,000 people were already living within the city limits.

The area grew throughout the early 1900s, and by December 1910 there were 36,000 residents, an airport and a developing skyline. Flag was sizing up well until the Jill Gold Rush of 1911 struck. When gold was discovered just a few miles east of Port Justin, the city fumbled and the new residents moved to the city. Flag was weak throughout the 1910s, with an increase of only 2,000 people from 1911 to 1916. After the gold rush ended, though, the population started to grow faster then ever. Business started returning, and by the early 1930s there were 80,000 residents.

The Golden Years: 1935 - 1960Edit

Flag was now becoming a hotspot for the wealthy. Being an upper-middle-class city, Flag was doing well attracting larger companies to the downtown area. During the 1940s and the 1950s, the population jumped to 96,000, and so did the average income. By 1955, the average income of a citizen in Flag was JD$40,000 (US$80,000). Large mansions and taller skyscrapers started popping up along the Flag River. By 1957 there were over 350 mansions and 7 skyscrapers in the city. Also, in 1959, the population striked 100,000.

The Modern Era: 1960 - presentEdit

Since the 1960s, Flag has grown hugely. In 1967, the airport was expanded and Flag acquired contracts with all of the domestic (and one international) carriers. During the economic slump of the 1970s, Flag still managed to live through it without any serious problems. The 1980s brought the construction of the Port Justin Industrial Area, which added thousands of new jobs and bumped the population up to 210,000. The 1990s and 2000s saw a huge increase in the number of large companies, and the population now stands at over 280,000 with a 0% poverty level. Flag is now a major center for trade with Easten and for engineering and agriculture companies.
